General Note regarding installations in MS Vista or Window 7
All current versions of our software are compatible with the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. However, both operating systems require that software is installed using the Run as Administrator option to write registry settings for your installation licensing. To Install any QA Software in a Windows Vista/7 environment, please follow these steps:
- If you downloaded the software and have a zip file, unzip the software to a directory of your choice. If you have a CD, skip this step.
- Browse to the setup file on your CD or in the unzipped folder.
- Right-click on the setup.exe file. You’ll see a menu that looks similar to this:

- Select the Run as administrator option. If this option is not available, you do not have administrative rights on the computer and cannot perform a proper installation.
- The installation should start. For most of our software, you will need to enter your CD key during installation. Follow the prompts through the installation.
Please Note: For SPC software & any of our study guides, you must have Write access to the _qinfox.sys file in the installation folder, as well as any data storage files that may be stored locally or on the network. To make these changes:
- Navigate to the installation folder for the software.
- Right click on the _qinfox.sys file and select Properties.
- Click on the Security tab and select the accounts which need write access.

- Click the Edit button to edit the permissions, and make sure write access is included for each account that needs it.
To Run any QA Software in a Windows Vista/7 environment:
- Right click on the shortcut or the executable file. You’ll see the Run as Administrator option in the menu:

- Select this option each and every time you run the software. If you do not, you might get a variety of errors, depending on the application you are using (Invalid Password errors, Read/Write access errors, etc.).
If you’d like to do away with the need to use the Run as Administrator option every time you run the software, follow these steps:
- Right click on the shortcut or the executable file.
- Select the Properties option from the menu.
- Click on the Compatibility tab and check the Run as Administrator box.
- Click OK.
