Six Sigma Certification Training and Testing Six Sigma certification demonstrates an individual's knowledge, skills and dedication to achieving a high level of competency in Six Sigma process. The Six Sigma certification standards require an individual to pass rigorous training and testing hurdles to gain a six-sigma certification.

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Six Sigma Green Belt certification requirements include:

Successful completion of the one-week on-site or online Green Belt Certification Training
Active participation in two successful Six Sigma projects. A Certification without Projects is provided if a student does not have access to suitable Six Sigma projects.
Passing score (65% or better) on each topic in Quality America's Online Green Belt Certification Exam. The exam is 75 questions (see example), in a multiple choice format, with the following topic weightings:
- Six Sigma Deployment Methodology: 10%
- Project Definition & Scheduling: 20%
- Change Management Skills: 10%
- Measure Stage Techniques, including SPC: 30%
- Analyze Stage Techniques, including Lean: 15%
- Improve Stage Techniques: 7%
- Control Stage Techniques: 8%

Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

Six Sigma Black Belt certification requirements include:

Successful completion of the Six Sigma four-week on-site or online Black Belt Certification Training course
Leading two successful Six Sigma projects. A Certification without Projects is provided if a student does not have access to suitable Six Sigma projects.
Passing scores on both sections of the IQF Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Exam.

Six Sigma Project Requirements:

Six Sigma projects used for certification purposes must demonstrate application of a variety of the Six Sigma tools and have a sufficient return on investment (ROI). Six Sigma Certification Projects generally are completed within a six-month period and generate an annualized return of $100,000 or more. The Six Sigma Certification Project Sponsors and other members of the Six Sigma management team use the IQF guidelines to independently evaluate financial return and success criteria.
