Accessing Data Files

From the Open dialog box (choose the button), we can directly open these Types of previously saved data files:

·      .qdb files (from this application),

·      MS-Excel files

·      ASCII files (such as from spreadsheets & other programs), and

·      .dbf files (such as from databases).

You can save any of these File Types as a .qdb file, which allows an 80 character description when saved. This Description is viewable in the Open dialog box when Name, Description is set in the Show Information box (at lower right).

The Open Mode button allows specification of either:

·      Normal (Exclusive Write): for editing, automatically saving or making a backup of the file.

·      Read Only: to see changes that another user is saving. This is particularly useful for monitoring a process off-line as another user enters the data.

File Open icon
