WORKING WITH DATA AND FILES
There are several file classifications:
- Data Files: used to save raw numbers, ODBC Queries to databases and DDE links to other files or spreadsheets. Data files may be one of several formats, including ASCII text, .dbf, and the default
file type .qdb. You may create and save many charts from a single data file. Data
is entered, edited and viewed in the Data Editor Window .
- Chart Files : used to save a specific chart analysis, including its Statistics. Chart
files have the extension .qdc, and are created from a single data file. They may
be inserted into other applications using Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) .
- Work Sets : are a set of specific chart files and data files. Work Sets are created so
that the files in the Work Set are opened as a group. A common use of this is
if you want to associate the Work Set to a given process which you are
responsible for either analyzing or monitoring. Rather than opening each of the files
separately, you simply open the Workset.
