| Contents | Index WMF File Export To print a chart to a WMF file, select that option from the list at left of the Print dialog box. Enter a file name in the text box provided. Note: When printed output is sent to a file, the program will store the file in the directory specified in the Output text box in the Directories dialog box. To access this dialog box, select the Directories button from the Preferences dialog box, available from the Options menu. You can override this directory choice by entering a full path name before the file name in the Print dialog box The Windows Metafile format is used to transfer pictures between applications. It has advantages and disadvantages when compared to the PCX format. The main disadvantage is that it is normally used only by Windows applications. A non-Windows word processor or drawing package is unlikely to be able to import a metafile. The main advantage of the metafile format is that it is vector format: instead of a representation of the picture being stored, a list of the instructions used to draw the picture is stored. This means that a WMF file is usually much smaller than a PCX file containing the same image. It also means that the application that you import it into can rescale the picture to a different size without losing its smooth appearance. If you have requested a detailed chart that may need more than one page if it were printed, you will be asked to specify the Page No of the page that you want written to the WMF file. Since a WMF file describes just a single picture, you cannot request multiple pages within one output file. |
