Short Run: Standardized by Entered Values
Select this option to standardize based on nominal values or pre-defined
operating levels for each run.
Mean in column: Select the column from the drop down list box that contains the nominal values
for each run. If this option only is selected (with None selected for Dispersion in column), each observation is standardized as follows:
(P-Charts)
(Np-Charts)
(C-Charts)
(U-Charts)
where n is the sample size, and p-barr, c-barr and u-barr are the row entries
in the specified column corresponding to run r.
(Variables data)
where xi is the observation, Mean is the row entry in the specified column
corresponding to that run, and zi is the standardized short run data.
Note: Runs are interpreted as beginning at the occurrence of an entry in the
selected column. Do not enter a nominal value for each row.
Dispersion in column: (Variables data only) Select the column from the drop down list box that
contains the estimate of variation for each run. To standardize only on a Nominal
or Mean value, select None from the drop box.
Note: Do not enter a nominal value for each row in a run, but only where the
dispersion differs from run to run.
Dispersion entered as range: (Variables data only) Select this option if the variation estimate in the
selected column is a Range estimate. If this option is selected, each observation
is standardized as follows:
(When Range chart used)
(When Sigma chart used)
where xi is the observation, Mean and Range are the row entries in the
specified columns corresponding to that run, d2 and c4 are found in any statistical
quality control textbook as a function of the subgroup size (moving size for
Moving Average charts), and zi is the standardized short run data.
Note: A constant subgroup size (as specified in the Chart Options dialog box)
is assumed for all subgroups in all runs.
Dispersion entered as sample sigma: (Variables data only) Select this option if the variation estimate in the
selected column is a sample sigma estimate. If this option is selected, each
observation is standardized as follows:
(When Range chart used)
(When Sigma chart used)
where xi is the observation, Mean and Process Sigma are the row entries in the
specified columns corresponding to that run, d2 and c4 are found in any
statistical quality control textbook as a function of the subgroup size (moving size
for Moving Average charts), and zi is the standardized short run data.
Note: Subgroup size may vary within each run.
Dispersion entered as process sigma: (Variables data only) Select this option if the variation estimate in the
selected column is a process sigma estimate. If this option is selected, each
observation is standardized as follows:
(When Range chart used)
(When Sigma chart used)
where xi is the observation, Mean and Process Sigma are the row entries in the
specified columns corresponding to that run, d2 is found in any statistical
quality control textbook as a function of the subgroup size (moving size for
Moving Average charts), and zi is the standardized short run data.
Note: Subgroup size may vary within each run.
Match runs with common indicator column: Select the column from the drop down list box that contains a classification
(such as Part Number, Doctor, Invoice type) that can be used to identify runs
that should be grouped together for standardization. The same value for the Mean (and Dispersion, if
selected) will be used each time that Run classification occurs.
Use first values for each run: Select this option to use the first run of each classification for
standardizing. By using first values, the value for Mean (and Dispersion, if selected)
does not have to be re-entered every time a new run of the same classification is
run.
Use last values for each run: Select this option to use the last run of each classification for
standardizing. By using last values, the most recent value for Mean (and Dispersion, if
selected) will be used for all prior runs of the same classification.
