Short Run Options

Short Run analysis combines data from several runs into a single analysis through a method of standardizing your data. Standardizing data allows information collected from different runs to be plotted on a single control chart. Runs can refer to different part numbers, different surgical procedures, different billing types, etc. Although each run has a unique operating level, standardization allows us to analyze all of the runs on the same control chart.

To define short run options, select the Short Run... button from the Analysis Options dialog box (available through the Edit menu or the Analysis Options toolbar icon).

The Short Run Options dialog box offers the following options:

No Short Run Method: (default) No standardization or other short run options are used.

Standardized by Entered Values : Select this option to standardize based on nominal values or pre-defined operating levels for each run.

Standardized by Calculated Values : Select this option to standardize based on the calculated Mean and Dispersion of the run(s) if there is no nominal value for each run, or to monitor process shifts based on actual operating levels.

Lines between runs: Check this option to have a vertical line drawn to separate runs on control charts.

Label runs with column: Select the column from the drop down list box that contains an entry in the first row of each run that can be used as a label on the control charts.
