Gage Options

Interface:
Select the type of your connected gage or multiplexer from the list box. See Supported Gages .

Port: provides the serial port settings for this connection. Select the Settings button to open the Communications Settings dialog box to modify these parameters.

Note: The options in the Communications Settings dialog box describe the protocol used to communicate to a gage over the serial port connection. The gage module will choose the values that are default for a particular interface or gage. Verify that they are correct for the specified gage by referring to your gage's documentation.

Slot: (multiplexers only) Select the slot (or socket) on the multiplexer that the gage selected below is connected to. Since each slot can have a gage assigned to it, select a slot, then select a gage from the Gage list box (below). Repeat this procedure for all of the multiplexer’s slots.

Note: The Mitutoyo WRU-U1 requires that slot number selected from the Slot list box be registered with the WRU-U1 before data may be sent. See the hardware manual for instructions on how to register an I.D. number.

Gage: (multiplexers only) Select the gage that is connected to the prior selected slot of the multiplexer. Only one gage may be connected per slot. To mark a slot as empty (no gage assigned to it), select the slot and select No Gage from the Gage list box.

Send Button: Select this option if the gage has a "send" button on it that transmits the current reading.

Value: (available when gage allows) Select the reading from the gage that is to be read to the Data Editor. For many interfaces, Current Reading will be the only option. For some interface (e.g. the GagePort 2220), you can choose to read Current Reading, Min Reading, Max Reading, or TIR (total indicated reading).

Foot Switch: (available for Starrett 741 Multiplexer): Select this button to enter the port sequence.

Options:
(available for Generic / Universal): Select this button to enter the number of characters to be removed from the beginning of the ASCII text string. See also: Generic/Universal Gage
