Analysis Options

The Analysis Options dialog box allows you to define options that influence the mathematical analysis of the data, such as the sigma level for the control limits.

To access the Analysis Options dialog box:

  • Select the Analysis Options button from your toolbar, OR

  • Select Analysis Options from the Edit menu.

The Analysis Options dialog box is accessible from two locations, which influences its actions:

  • from the column of the Data Editor window, changes made to the Analysis Options will affect all charts created from this column after the change. This change is saved with the .qdb data file.

  • from a Chart window, changes made to the Analysis Options may affect that chart only, and will be lost if the chart window is closed without saving as a .qdc chart file. This allows you to maintain different Analysis Options in several chart files, using the data file as a master. However, if the Update Data Set option is checked within the dialog box, then the change is stored in the column’s (i.e. characteristic’s) Analysis Options, and will be saved when the data file is saved. In this case, subsequent charts drawn from this column will use these revised options.

Default Analysis Options which are invoked for all columns until changed may be defined by choosing Preferences from the Options menu.

The following buttons are used in editing the Analysis Options dialog box:

OK: Stores the information as it appears in the dialog box (including any changes you have made), and returns you to the window in which you were previously.

Cancel: Cancels any changes you have made to the current column options and returns you to the window in which you were previously.

Set to Default: Applies the default Analysis Options .

Prev: Opens the Analysis Options dialog box for the first analyzable column preceding the current column.

Next: Opens the Analysis Options dialog box for the first analyzable column after the current column.
