| Contents | Index Alerting Setup Dialog Box In order to send alerts, or receive alerts from any workstation, including your own, you must "enable" the alerts. In addition, you must give a path name for sending and receiving alerts to and from other workstations on the network. If you do not plan on communicating with other workstations, you could set a local directory in the path name. To do either of these, access the Alerting Setup dialog box by selecting the Setup button in the Alerts dialog box , or Alerting Setup from the Options menu. Enable Alerting: This checkbox must be selected to send or receive alert messages. Station Name: Enter into this text box a name for your workstation that will be recognizable to others on the network. They will select this name in their Alerts dialog box to send you messages. Shared Directory: Enter into this text box the path which indicates where alert messages will be stored. This path must be accessible to anyone you want to send messages to or receive messages from. (Thus, everyone who wants to communicate should specify the same directory). Note: Files will be created in this shared directory with the extension alf which will contain alert messages received by you from each Station name, including your own. Each user must have write access to these files in order to send messages. |
