The Alerting tab also provides a means of sending message prompts and/or emails when a new observation exceeds a specification value, or a new subgroup violates a control limit or applied Run Test rule in the Work Set view.
When the Prompt for Assignable Cause or Prompt for Corrective Action options are checked, the Data Entry personnel must select the Assignable Cause and/or Corrective Action from a message box when the current subgroup or one of its data values violate the conditions checked in the Alert Conditions list box.
In the Giant Rubber Band – OAL Alerting tab, select the Enable Alerting checkbox, as well as the Prompt for Assignable Cause, Prompt for Corrective Action, Subgroup Out of Control, Data Value Out of Specification, and Subgroup Failed Run Test options.
Click on the Message button, and enter a message that will prompt the data entry user: “The Giant Rubber Band is in danger of snapping. RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!”
Click on the Run Tests tab to verify that all Run Tests have been selected. Only the selected Run Tests will trigger an alert prompt or email.
In addition to the prompts provided for the logged-in data entry personnel, the Email Settings button provides a means of directing an automated message via email to any valid email address when the alert condition is violated.
Click on the Email button, then the Add Email button to enter your own email address. Type your name in the optional Full Name field. The message previously entered (above) will also be with the specifics of the alert condition. [Note: If you receive a warning prompt that the email properties have not yet been defined in the database, review the proper setup in the Preferences dialog box]. Select the OK button to save these changes and return to the Explorer view.
