File Menu

The following options are provided in the File menu:

New: select one of the following options using the Down arrow:

Data: select to open a spreadsheet for entering data. You must use the Import to Characteristic option from the spreadsheet’s right mouse menu to save the data to a new or existing Characteristic.

Chart: select to open a chart for entering data. You will be prompted to add a new Characteristic to a new or existing Process. The chart will open with no data, but data can be added using the Show Data Form option from the chart’s right mouse menu.

Note: To create a chart from an existing Characteristic, select the Characteristic and use the Show Chart option from the right mouse menu.

Other: select one of the other menu items (Analysis, Characteristic, Document, etc.) for adding a new item of the selected type.

Open: select one of the following options using the Down arrow.

Note: The QDB, Excel, Text or Data Source options open a snapshot of the data in a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet’s right mouse menu provides options for importing or linking to the selected Characteristic.

Work Set: (Available if real-time option purchased) the last Work Set opened in this session will be opened, or the Open Work Set dialog box for selecting a Work Set will be available if none have been opened in this session.

QDB file: browse to select a data file created by another of our SPC software packages.

Excel file: an MS Excel file.

Text file: browse to select a comma, tab or space delimited text file, such as created by other software or hardware devices.

Data Source: browse to select an external data source created by another application, such as LIMS, MRP, ERP, and so on.

Save: opens the Import to Characteristic dialog box so the data within a spreadsheet (not currently linked to a Characteristic) can be imported and saved to the database.

Exit: closes the application.
