The names of each of these branches can be customized for your database, so if someone has been playing around with this sample database the names may not match those listed earlier. We’ll see later how to change the branch names.
When you click on a 'closed' branch (identified with the
symbol), it will 'expand' so that its contents are visible. An opened branch is identified with a – symbol; selecting this symbol will collapse the branch's view. Inactive items within a branch are shown in gray font.
The right mouse button and one of the menu bar options is updated as you visit the different branches.
For example, when we select a specific Process in the
Process branch, the Process menu becomes available on the main menu bar, providing the same menu items as the right mouse button.
The records listed in each branch can be filtered for ease of viewing only those items meeting certain criteria. These filter options affect only the current user, and are saved with that user’s preferences for use the next time the database is opened.
Click on the
User branch with your right mouse button, and select the Show Records Where.. option. Select the Add button, then select Privilege Level from the Field menu box and Equals from the Operator menu box. Select the Value button, and select Supervisor from the list box. Select the OK button two times to close both dialog boxes. Notice how the Users branch is then labeled "Filtered" to indicate the limited list.
