Explorer View Branches

The Explorer View offers a 'tree view' for managing the database, spreadsheets for viewing or editing data, as well as a variety of charts for single or multiple characteristic analysis.

image\userbranch.gif User: for maintaining each of the users, their password and Access Level.

image\privilegekey.gif Privilege: for defining user Access Level permissions, such as restricting access to specific branches or virtually any function within the software.

image\processdiamond.gif Process: a multi-level branch, including both Process or Part descriptions (the upper level), and their associated Characteristics (the lower level) to be monitored.

image\traceicon.gif Traceability: for defining informational fields, such as Order Number, Supplier, etc.

image\analysisicon.gif Analysis: for creating and viewing off-line analyses.

image\reporticon.gif Report: for creating printed reports. Note that you can also export to MS Word or Excel.

image\sqlicon.gif SQL Imports: for importing historical data from other databases or spreadsheets.

image\documentbranch.gif Document: to link to external files (documents, pictures, Flowcharts, etc.) for Data Entry or Analysis personnel. Each file can then be linked to a given Characteristic.

The optional Real-Time interface also includes the Work Set image\workseticon.gif and Gage image\gage.gif branches.

image\mouse.gif If you don’t see one of these branches, select the View menu, then select the branch’s label to add a checkmark for viewing the branch. The branch labels can also be customized for your database

image\mouse.gif Click on the Process branch, and note that the right mouse menu and one of the main menu bar labels are both updated to reflect the options available for the selected branch.

When you click on a 'closed' branch (identified with the image\explplus.gif symbol), it will 'expand' so that its contents are visible. An opened branch is identified with a – symbol; selecting this symbol will collapse the branch's view. Inactive items within a branch are shown in gray font.

image\mouse.gif Expand the Process branch to view the three folders created for production, customer service and Laboratory. Each folder can also be expanded to view the Process elements contained within.

Of course, within your real database you will define folders that are useful for managing your own processes. We can easily create and populate Folders within any of the branches.

image\mouse.gif Select the Process branch label image\processdiamond.gif, then selecting the Add Folder option from the right mouse menu. Enter a name, then the OK button.

image\mouse.gif Select the Warranty Issues process and drag it into the new folder using the mouse.
