The Explorer View offers a 'tree view' for managing the database, spreadsheets for viewing or editing data, as well as a variety of charts for single or multiple characteristic analysis. It also provides access to Data Import Wizards and Linking to other databases for quickly populating your database with historical data.
If you don’t see one of the branches listed below, then select the View menu, then select the branch’s label to add a checkmark for viewing the branch.
The main branches of the tree (in the left pane of the window below) coincide with the major areas or functions within the database.
User: for maintaining each of the users and specifying their password and Access Level in the database.
Privilege: for defining user Access Levels, including permissions for virtually all functions within the software.
Process: a multi-level branch, including both the Process or Part descriptions (the upper level), and their associated Characteristics (the lower level) that will be monitored.
Work Set: for defining collections of Characteristics for real-time data entry in the Work Set view, or for access through the optional Web Interface.
Traceability: for defining informational fields associated with each subgroup, such as Order Number, Supplier, Work Station number, and so on that users will select or key in during data entry.
Analysis: for creating and viewing off-line analyses, including Process Monitoring summaries, control charts, Box-Whisker charts, Paretos, etc. based on any combination of Characteristics defined in the Process Branch.
Report: for creating printed reports.
Gage: for adding real-time gage and multiplexer setups to the database.
SQL Imports: for importing historical data from other databases or spreadsheets. Note that in the Process Branch (above), you can also link Characteristics directly to other databases or spreadsheets, so that changes to those native files are automatically viewed in this database.
Document: to link to external files, such as Word documents, pdf’s, Flowcharts, and so on that would provide useful information for Data Entry or Analysis personnel. Each of these files can then be linked to a given Characteristic in the Process, Work Set or Analysis branch for easy access.
