When a document is added via the Add Document option, or edited via the Edit Document option, in the Document branch, the Document Properties dialog box is presented with the following options:
Document Name: Enter a suitable description for the Document (up to 60 characters in length). This description will be used in the Document list box available from the toolbar.
Folder: Select an existing folder from the Document branch to hold the new document information. Document Folders are useful to group documents, such as by department, type or customer.
View Attached Part/Characteristics: Select this button to open a read only list of Characteristics that are currently linked to this document, or to assign this document to multiple Characteristics.
Note: The active version of a document may be linked to a given Characteristic using the Document tab in the Define Characteristic dialog box. A given document may be linked to any number of Characteristics. A given Characteristic may be linked to any number of documents.
A listing is provided of each revision of the document, noting its status (draft, active or obsolete), the date the version became active, its version number, and the directory path specifying the location of the document.

Select a document from the list to access one of the following options:
Open: Choose this option to open the selected document revision. (Double-clicking on the selection in the list will also open the Document). You must have the proper application installed (as associated within Windows for the document type) and the necessary permissions and folder access (as specified by the Network administrator) to view the document.
Add: Select this option to specify the properties of a new document revision for this document in the Define Document Version dialog box.
Edit: Choose this option to open the Define Document Version dialog box for reviewing or revising the revision number, path, revision date or revision status of the selected document.
Remove: Select this option to delete the selected Document definition. If selected, the Document will not be removed from its location on the network, but the Document will no longer be available for viewing in the database or attaching to Characteristics.
