Document files may be attached to a given Characteristic using the Document tab in the Define Characteristic dialog box. Attached documents may be of any file type, and located on any hard drive, however for ease of access the files would typically be located on an accessible network server by users who have the necessary application for opening the file.

Documents assigned to a given Characteristic may be viewed by selecting the desired Document from the Document list box icon.
In addition, you can also define Notes and Images that are also conveniently available to data entry personnel. Examples of the definition and use of Documents, Notes and Images are shown in the Explorer View tutorial.
The Document tab contains the following options:
Attach: Select this option to open the Select Document dialog box for choosing a Document to link to this Characteristic.
Note: Additional documents may be linked to the database by selecting the Add Document option from the Document branch’s right mouse menu.
Detach: Select this option to remove the selected Document’s availability from this Characteristic. The Document will still exist on the network and be available for assignment to other Characteristics.
Note: To remove the Document’s listing from the Select Document dialog box, use the Remove Document option from the Document branch.
