Assignable Cause Corrective Action dialog box

Assignable Causes and Corrective Actions are special types of Traceability Fields applied to a selected subgroup. The Assignable Cause and Corrective Action dialog box is accessed using the Edit AC/CA option in the Chart (or right mouse) menu when a subgroup is selected.

Note when using optional real-time features: The Assignable Cause and Corrective Action dialog box is automatically presented in the Work Set view when the current subgroup (or one of the observations in the subgroup) meets the Alert Condition defined in the Define Characteristics Alerting Tab . When automatically presented as part of an alerting scheme, the data entry personnel must enter an appropriate Assignable Cause and/or Corrective Action. The dialog box will indicate which of the following three conditions (if applied) are met:

1)    the subgroup violates a control limit.

2)    the subgroup violates an applied Run Test rule.

3)    one of the subgroup’s observations exceeds the specification limits.

Choose an Assignable Cause and Corrective Action from each of the lists provided.

·      Add items to the default lists in the Define Traceability dialog box so users may select a given set of pre-defined Assignable Causes and Corrective Actions.

Note: It is suggested to include an "Unknown" category, which can later be edited as more process information is gathered.

·      A data entry user may add items to the lists if the user has the Add Assignable Cause Items privilege.

·      One of the lists may not be presented if the field is set Inactive in the Define Traceability dialog box .

·      When the data is linked from an external data source, you must first specify an appropriate Identifier field in the Define Characteristics Data Source tab.
