When a new chart is created from a new spreadsheet, as in the last exercise, the spreadsheet’s data is temporarily stored to the database. Whenever data is stored, a number of associated fields are also stored with each data record, including: the Traceability Fields (in this case Error Code), the date and time, the username, and any Assignable Cause or Corrective Action information. For this reason, it’s good practice to specify the column types in a new spreadsheet before we create charts, so that the data is properly stored.
When the chart was created in the last example, the spreadsheet was updated with Assignable Cause (AC) and Corrective Action (CA) columns.
Select the last subgroup in the new chart, then select the Edit AC/CA option from the right mouse menu.
Select Operator Error from the Assignable Cause drop-down list, then enter Clarify in Procedure in the Corrective Action text box. Select the OK button to return to the chart. Note that the AC/Ca as entered is displayed at the top of the statistics box (beneath the Histogram), and only appears when the last subgroup is selected.
