Analysis Characteristics Based on Calculated Values

You can also create Formula Characteristics within Analyses (and Work Sets, if the Real-Time option is purchased) that are based on calculations using two or more Characteristics. In the example below, your data collection may measures the empty weight and the full weight of a canister during a filling process. We can easily calculate the amount of material added through subtraction.

In a cases like this, and countless others, we simply create a Formula Characteristic, which allows for many of the same options we’ve already seen for Process Characteristics.

In the Define Analysis dialog box’s General tab, select the Fill Weight item, then the Edit button to view its properties. Click on the Formula tab to view the formula. Click on the Cancel button to return to the spreadsheet.
