Adding Electronic Gages

Electronic measurement equipment may also be used for automated data entry entered into a real-time data collection Work Set. Some gauging instruments are connected directly to the workstation’s RS-232 serial (COMM) port, while others may be connected via a multiplexer. Once specific gages have been added to the database, Data Entry Users may quickly change the gage used for data collection from the Work Set view.

A complete list of supported gages and multiplexers is provided in the Help System., including devices developed by ASD, Starrett, Mitutoyo, Fowler, GagePort and others. The software will use the default settings for each of these pieces of equipment.

The Generic (Universal) Gage option allows for entering of data through the serial port by measurement instruments not listed below. Option may be set to interpret the data stream, allowing a wide variety of commercially available gages and multiplexers, including scales, Programmable Logic Controllers, Coordinate Measuring Machines and more.
