A Quick Look at the Work Set View

The Work Set view has pages accessible via tabs across the bottom of the window. Each page contains a chart linked to a Process Characteristic.

image\mouse.gif Select the Acme Production Work Set, and the Open Work Set option from the right mouse menu to view the data in the real-time Work Set view.

image\mouse.gif Select each tab (Arm Length from Pivot, Hole Size, and Thickness) to visit each of the Characteristics in the Work Set. Note that each Characteristic has unique properties, including the chart graphics, subgroup size and chart type.

A Data Form is shown at the left of each tabbed page for displaying the data values for a selected subgroup. To the right of each data value box is a display indicating the observation's value relative to the Upper and Lower Specifications. Beneath the data values are Traceability fields for entry of associated information, such as Work Station and Job Number.

image\mouse.gif Use the scroll buttons (image\prcarrow.gif) in the Data Form to visit other subgroups. Note that when an observation in the subgroup is within the specifications, the display to the right of the value (in the Data Entry form) is green, and the length of the bar indicates the relative position within the specifications. When the observation exceeds either the Upper or Lower Specification, the display is red.

The Work Set view also supports special tabs for multiple characteristic data entry. You can view each characteristic separately on a control chart, or when a formula is based on the characteristics, display the formula results on a control chart as well. We’ll see these as we move through this tutorial.
