An optional Real-Time Gage Module can be combined with SPC-PC IV to allow direct reading of data from measurement devices through the RS-232 port. To make life a little easier, the Real-Time Gage Module contains a list of commonly used gages and multiplexors with pre-defined factory specifications (baud rate, parity, etc.). Simply select the desired measurement device from the list, designate the placement of the data in SPC-PC IV, and begin taking readings. The list includes devices from manufacturers such as Starrett, Fowler, and Mitutoyo; if your device is not listed, the Real-Time Gage Module offers a 'Generic' setting to enter the specifications unique to your device.

In addition, the Gage Module has features to automatically enter the time and date of each reading, verify the reading against a pre-determined range to guard against gage or operator error, and add or delete leading or trailing values. It is possible to continuously monitor your processes since SPC-PC IV updates all charts to include the new data as it is read from the gage. Furthermore, while in real time mode, the operator will have full access to the data set in order to add notes, tag line information, and attach assignable causes.
